Having spent more than 25 years in professional and non-league football as a player, coach, scout, analyst and senior executive, I have experienced the game from virtually every perspective. From dressing rooms and dugouts to boardrooms and executive leadership, I understand the challenges clubs face because I have lived them.

Football clubs today operate in an increasingly demanding environment. Success requires far more than assembling a competitive team. It demands strong leadership, effective recruitment, sustainable structures, sound governance, operational excellence and a clear long-term vision.

My consultancy is built on practical experience gained throughout a career that has spanned professional football, academy development, recruitment, performance analysis, football operations and executive leadership. This allows me to provide clubs with honest, informed and practical guidance that delivers real value and measurable improvement.

Professional Football & Coaching Experience

My football journey began as a professional player, making more than 400 senior appearances for clubs including Luton Town, Oxford United, Mansfield Town and Rushden & Diamonds.

Playing professionally provided me with first-hand experience of the standards, pressures and expectations required to compete in elite environments. It also gave me a deep understanding of dressing room culture, leadership, player development and the factors that contribute to successful football clubs.

Following my playing career, I moved into coaching, recruitment and football operations, holding roles across academy, senior and executive football environments. This included positions with Manchester City, Accrington Stanley, Brentford, Luton Town, Mansfield Town and AFC Rushden & Diamonds, working across talent identification, academy operations, player development, recruitment and football management.

As a UEFA A Licence coach, I understand both the technical and operational aspects of football and the importance of creating structures that allow players, coaches and staff to perform at their highest level.

Football Operations & Executive Leadership

My experience extends well beyond the football pitch.

Most recently, I served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Football Operations at Southport FC, where I was responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the football club. My responsibilities included football operations, recruitment, scouting, staffing, governance, budgeting, matchday delivery, commercial coordination and major infrastructure projects.

I also played a key role in the development of Southport's new training facility and worked alongside UEFA representatives as part of preparations relating to potential EURO 2028 training base opportunities.

Alongside senior leadership responsibilities, I have also managed recruitment departments, developed scouting structures, overseen academy operations and supported strategic planning across multiple football organisations.

These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of how successful clubs operate and the challenges they face at every level of the football pyramid.
